COVID-19 and the EU: two webinars

Marco Magnani and Emanuele Castelli will be involved in two online meetings on the current EU crisis

A student association, in collaboration with B4PEACE, organises two seminars on the current and future political context of the European Union. The aim of the meetings, which will be streamed live on the Association's Facebook page, is to deepen the current tough political confrontation on the economic measures to be implemented to face the recession between the Northern European countries (the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Finland and Germany), supporters of austerity policy, and those of Southern Europe (France, Italy, Spain and Portugal), with high public debt and supporters of expansive economic policies.

The first meeting will analyse the economic context of the EU and the economic policy instruments currently under discussion (ESM, EIB, SURE, Recovery Fund and Euro-bond). The speaker of this first meeting will be Prof. Marco Magnani, Professor of Macroeconomics Institutions at the Department of Economic and Business Sciences.

The second meeting will discuss the future prospects of the European Union and the political consequences that would derive from the implementation of insufficient economic policies to lift the economies of the States most affected by this new socio-economic crisis. The speaker of this second meeting will be Prof. Emanuele Castelli, Professor of International Politics at the Department of Law, Politics and International Studies and B4PEACE Module’s coordinator.
